SRF recognizes that students at different levels of academic pursuit or different researchers may have unique research needs and may benefit from multidisciplinary support and review of their research by an experienced researcher to make it even more impactful. We offer research support services to students at different levels through a mentored-support approach. The support we offer is individual-centered, with acknowledgement of the differing skill sets among students and researchers. Our focus is always to use the current student project as an opportunity to build their research knowledge, skills and perhaps motivate them towards pursuing research careers. The consultations are organized as one-on- one sessions with a suitable consultant at SRF. ...These could be physical or virtual meetings, with proceedings captured for tracking progress. These are always interactive meetings with intermittent information sharing sessions about cross-cutting concepts that are relevant in contextualizing the student’s or researcher’s project. These concepts may be in: research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics, results interpretation, analysis software, research presentation and communication, literature search, protocol development, and some topic-specific knowledge, etc. We do not develop proposals for students since this would contradict our core focus of capacity building of students in research. From the start, our clients have appreciated this model of research support since it builds their knowledge about their research and confidence in dissemination of their work both at their host institutions and on a public arena especially in research conferences.
